The Daily Panel An independent comics experience. Stories With Pictures, an Ink Horses site.

About The Daily Panel

The Daily Panel is a short interactive session for people who love comics and want to understand how they work. It is an independent comics experience from Stories With Pictures. Across a few rounds you answer questions about your own reading taste, learn some craft ideas, and end up with a four-panel strip built from your answers.

What you do here

You start by saying how you first fell into comics and what makes you stay with a story. Later rounds ask craft questions: how a panel border can change what a scene means, what a silent panel can do that prose cannot, how much you like to fill in the gutter between panels, and which setting you would use for a first panel. Some questions are quick trivia, such as what a caption box is or which artist is often credited with the modern newspaper strip. Answering earns points whether you are right or wrong.

Hot takes and the reader split

Each round has a hot take about comics, a debatable opinion you can vote on. You see the best case for the other side. Shared vote counts are not available yet, so you see only your own answer, and the page says so.

Where the AI comes in

Parts of the page are written live by AI, and each one is labelled. After your answers, an AI writes a short reader profile for you. A comics companion can chat about the round. You can also leave a short note of your own, but sharing it with other people is not switched on yet, so nothing you write there is published. The AI can still make mistakes, so treat its comments as opinions and check any facts you plan to rely on.

Points, badges and your strip

Your answers earn points and badges. At the end the page builds a four-panel strip from your choices: an opening, a turn and a closing panel, with captions written by AI. The page offers to email you a copy, but that step is a preview for now: no email address is stored and nothing is sent.

Your progress is kept only in your browser's session storage, so closing the tab clears it. The AI companion relies on a live service that is not always reachable. When it is unavailable, the page says so plainly and lets you skip ahead.
